KME Systems

A development team on call for a managed IT provider

The arrangement

KME Systems keeps businesses' technology running: support desks, networks, cloud, security and phones. Their clients trust them with everything that plugs in, so when something needs building or fixing in software — the website, a line-of-business application, an integration — KME is who they ask first.

Software development isn't the service KME sells, and hiring developers for an unpredictable stream of software requests rarely makes sense for an IT provider. Turning those requests away sends a trusted client to another vendor. So KME brings us in: we work as an extension of their technology team, and the client keeps one relationship.

How it works

One relationship for the client, two teams behind it

KME stays the client's point of contact. We do the software work behind them.

  1. KME spots the need

A client asks for something outside IT support — a broken site, a change to an old application, a new feature.

  2. We scope it with KME

We assess the system, including code another vendor wrote years ago, and agree the work with KME before anything starts.

  3. We deliver as their team

Under KME's name or alongside it, whichever suits the relationship. The client gets the work; KME keeps the account.

  4. We stay on

Most of this is ongoing — maintenance, support tickets and the next small improvement, not one-off projects.

What we do

The work behind the partnership

These are systems other people designed and built. We support, maintain and extend them; we don't claim to have designed or built them, and we don't approach KME's clients directly.

  • Ongoing WordPress development and maintenance
  • Support for enterprise desktop applications
  • Taking over legacy applications built by previous vendors
  • Small enhancements and custom features
  • Support tickets, troubleshooting and technical problem-solving

For IT providers and agencies

Need development capacity without hiring for it?

This arrangement works well for managed IT providers, agencies and consultancies whose clients ask for software their team doesn't build. We work under your name or alongside it, whichever suits the relationship, and we don't approach your clients directly.

We're comfortable inheriting code someone else wrote. Most of what KME sends us is the steady kind of work: maintenance, fixes and the next improvement.
